薄壁套圈轴承精度高、非常安静以及承载能力很强。这些球轴承有三种设计，并且极端的小、横截面大多为正方形。在这些系列中，即使是更大的轴直径和轴承孔，横截面也保持不变。这些轴承因此称为等截面(CS)。正是这个特性将标准ISO系列中的薄壁套圈轴承与传统的轴承区别开来。
因此，可以选择更大的横截面并使用承载能力更强的轴承而不必改变轴直径。薄壁套圈轴承可以设计成极度轻而需要很小空间的轴承。[1]
